Sculpture has been a form
of human expression from the days of the prehistoric people
who chipped and carved soft stone or fashioned figurines
out of damp clay. Much of our history has been gathered
from remnants of sculpture and fragments of work that were
both functional and beautiful.
Stone
is my favorite media. While there are many materials available
to create three dimensional images I find stone the one
that permits one's art to be caressed while in the making.
Clay
to me, is the most versatile of all sculpturing media. It
is the medium which reveals the hand and hopefully the soul
of the artist. The hand is literally imprinted into the
clay.
Bronze
on the other hand represents an issued piece. It could be
unique as in one of a
kind or it could be one of a limited number.
I
hope this very brief introduction helps you appreciate my
passion for sculpture and
explains the reason I devote so much time creating forms
in three dimensions.
